Who Am I? Dead to Sin

WHO AM I? DEAD TO SIN

Today I want to remind you and I of an incredible reality. If we are in Christ, we are dead to any and all sin. The dictionary definition of the word 'dead' means this: 'no longer alive', and 'absolutely; completely'. What does this mean? ALL sin is absolutely, completely no longer alive. As a result, you and I don't have to hold onto the shame of our past. We get to celebrate and be thankful for the reality that by the grace of God it is done with.

When the Father looks at you and I, He doesn't look at us through the lens of our sin because it is dead! It no longer is a part of who we are. Do we continue to make mistakes and sin? I know I do. But, I don't need to let shame take hold when I do. I can come to Him in confidence, knowing He is quick to forgive, and He doesn't see me through the lens of sin because it is dead. I can learn from it, put it behind me, and keep moving forward in intimacy with the Father because it is dead!

I know I am repeating myself here, but this is a reality is so easy to say, and yet so hard to believe, because the enemy wants us to continue to live in shame, because shame causes us to run and hide from God. So today, as we reflect on this truth, my prayer is that if you battle with shame, that this will break those chains once and for all!

"Could it be any clearer that our former identity is now and forever deprived of its power? For we were co-crucified with him to dismantle the stronghold of sin within us, so that we would not continue to live one moment longer submitted to sin’s power." (Romans 6:6 TPT)

"So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus." (Romans 6:11 NLT)
