Who Am I? Brothers & Sisters of Jesus

WHO AM I? BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF JESUS

It was early Sunday morning. Mary Magdalene was visiting the tomb that Jesus was buried in to anoint his body with herbs and oils. The only thing was, he wasn't in the tomb. A few minutes of fear and confusion turned into uncontainable joy as she saw face-to-face the risen Jesus. What an incredible moment!

Mary's natural response was to cling to Jesus. But he says these words to her in John 20: “Mary, don’t cling to me, for I haven’t yet ascended to God, my Father. And he’s not only my Father and God, but now he’s your Father and your God! (John 20:17 TPT)

Jesus was stating an amazing truth that was now possible because of his death and resurrection - God was now not only Jesus' father, He was also Mary's. Jesus then tells Mary to go and pass on a message to his 'brothers'. This is the first time the disciples of Jesus are called brothers. Why? Because this was a new reality.

This reality is also the case for you and I. Because of what Jesus has done, we can call God Father, and Jesus brother. We are treated the same way as Jesus because we are all children of God, brothers and sisters with Jesus. What an incredible reality!

"Jesus, the Holy One, makes us holy. And as sons and daughters, we now belong to his same Father, That is, we are all out of one Source, God the Father. so he is not ashamed or embarrassed to introduce us as his brothers and sisters!" (Hebrews 2:11 TPT)
