30 Days of Promises - #6

"WE'VE BEEN UNITED (BROUGHT NEAR) TO JESUS"

Ephesians 2:13 says that "you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13 NLT)

When I looked up the word for 'united' and 'brought near', one of the meanings of the word was 'to squeeze'. As I read that, I saw a picture in my mind of places like Tokyo where they have so many people squeezing onto trains that they have professional 'pushers' on the platforms to squeeze as many people onto the trains as possible. While I have never experienced that personally, I can imagine what it must be like to be squeezed so close to so many people. You are so close to people that there is no space between each other.

I believe that is what it's like with our Heavenly Father, although it's much more comfortable than being stuck on a crowded train! When we are in Christ, we are so close to God that there is no space between Him and us. We are joined together. As Jesus puts it, we are branches connected to the vine.

What a beautiful promise!
