30 Days of Promises - #29

"GOD WILL GIVE US STRENGTH"

There is a famous and often quoted verse in Isaiah 40. As you read it, I am sure you will recognise it...

"He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:29-31 NLT)

God clearly promises strength and power will be provided to the weak, tired and powerless. It promises that as we trust in the Lord, we WILL find new strength.

One of the meanings of the word for 'trust' is 'to bind together by twisting'. I believe this paints a beautiful picture of how our strength is given and renewed. As we 'bind together' with God, in other words, pursue Him, live in a place of intimacy with Him, a fruit or byproduct of that is that He renews our strength.

This is something that I am constantly learning and relearning. What is most important is not what we do for God, it's intimacy with Him. What we do must flow from that place, and not the other way round, otherwise we are on a direct path to weariness and burnout.

If you are in a place where you are feeling weary and in need of strength, then my prayer for you today is that this promise encourages you and reminds you to keep pursuing Him.
