"JESUS IS OUR LAWYER"

Why do I say that Jesus is our lawyer? Well, the role of a lawyer is to represent their client, speaking on their behalf, representing them and presenting their case to the judge.

The Bible doesn't specifically use the word 'lawyer' when it talks about Jesus, but it does mention that he is our advocate. An advocate has the same meaning - 'to plead a case on someone else's behalf'. The Bible also calls Satan the 'accuser of the brethren'. He's constantly trying to bring up our sin, faults and flaws to the Father.

BUT, when we are in Christ, Jesus is able to take a stand. "He/she is mine." "They are covered by my blood." "The price has been paid for them."

Not only does this cancel out the voice of the accuser, but it means we are able to walk in peace and freedom even when we do mess up, as we all do from time to time.

Satan will continue to do all that he can to lead us down paths of shame. If he is trying to do that to you, hold onto this promise, and declare that Jesus represents you, he's pleading your case on your behalf, and you belong to him!

"My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world." (1 John 2:1-2 NLT)
