Eat My Leftovers!

This was written by a friend of mine, Dara Postell.

I was talking with a friend of mine who is an amazing gardener/green thumb (amongst other things). She sent me a photo of a variety of gorgeous, colourful flowers sitting in a vase on her table. Once I gave my compliments she replied, “Those are from my garden. Eighty percent of those I didn’t plant. They (re)seeded from last year.”

Immediately, Abba shared His heart. He had pointed out to her: despite the challenges of last year, look at what had grown in the garden of her heart! He wanted her to rejoice with Him and to be reminded that, before the fall of mankind, in Eden there was no toil in any work that was done! Jesus has restored that for us all. He emphasised that work, ministry, and everyday life should be done from a place of rest!

When a plant reseeds, it basically drops seed which finds fertile ground and grows anew the next season (without the gardener having to replant the seed). Does that not remind you of God and His Word/Love? It goes out and it just keeps finding the fertile soil of our hearts and manifesting His original design, which is then passed on to others’ lives and so on.

He had me tell my friend not to forget how excited and pleased she was about the fruit of letting God do the heavy lifting, the bounty of and of the fruit/harvest which results in letting Him do it His way. Rest, love, trust, joy, authenticity (in the challenging times). It all boiled down to beauty.

So, when the enemy or the flesh/old nature tries to come and bring you a report that isn’t of God, tell them “Eat my leftovers!” If there is such a great harvest from reseeding of the past season, just imagine the harvest and the glory of all that is being planted in this season! Doesn’t everything get better and better with God? Shall the harvest not be even more abundant and glorious with each passing season of life? God is pure brilliance!
